My Tumblr time has pretty much been totally taken over by my efforts with Ask Froggy Hop.
I haven’t seen it for a while, but I just managed to formulate a proper response to why exactly I was very uncomfortable with it. Well, because calling someone “a slut with a controller” for not conforming to what’s an acceptable gender role for your culture (whether that’s “I’ll bathe when Hyrule is free” or “Women are dainty, perfect, innocent flowers”) is an example of what we call Slut Shaming. And that is BAD. Slut shaming, as a practice, paints female sexuality as dirty and wrong and deviant by nature. It’s also frequently goes hand in hand with rape apologia — “That girl’s a slut, so she couldn’t have been raped. She must have wanted it.” It’s a very bad, very misogynistic thing.
It’s also problematic because it’s part of the whole “Gamer/Nerd axiomatically equals unhygienic, unfit, and ugly” bit.
Decided to reblog this to add more to it, instead of edit an ancient post that probably no-one would ever see.
That said, the sort of material it’s mocking is misogynistic and objectifying, treating a gamer girl as an exotic sex object rather than an actual person. But the answer to fighting misogyny is never more misogyny. You can criticize objectification without resorting to slut shaming.

… It annoys me a little when I talk about how I can’t draw, and people assume I’m just lacking pratice or confidence. I actually mean I can’t draw. Motor dysgraphia. The physical act of writing is difficult and sometimes painful for me — and drawing uses largely the same motions and muscles. I might be able to mitigate it with exercises or practice, but… I don’t know… It’s doubtful I’d ever actually be able to draw at a level I’d consider acceptable for actually putting out there.

Thanks to the character-per-server restrictions during Open Beta in Tera, I have 4 characters on as many servers. x.x; Had 5 on as many servers, but deleted one I wasn’t much a fan of/didn’t like the name I picked for.
Because:
A) There were not an historical amount of anti-woman bills introduced and passed in the past couple of years, nor were there incredibly anti-woman sentiments expressed by legislators and media figures alike.
and
B) Issues that primarily affect women are not “real”.
Got it. That clears up the stupidity that it takes to make or post this image completely.
I’m so sick of uterus issues being seen as not “real”. FUCK YOU IF YOU THINK THAT.
If you see that on facebook, copy/paste that exact response or whatever your own brand of kickass is.
